Week 4 Pickups for the NFL 09/28/2010

DEFENSE

Seattle Seahawks

It's time to look into the Seahawks folks. They are second in fantasy points behind the Steelers, have 7 sacks, 4 interceptions, 3 fumble recovery's and a touchdown. With the bye weeks now here they could be a great fill in. Of course they could also be your starting defense as the choice is up to you. I especially like them at home which is a very loud and odd environment. Make sure you consider the match up's but grab them now if they are available in your league.

RUNNING BACKS

Peyton Hillis - Cleveland Browns

He has been on the radar for a while but now he is a top ten back on the season statistically and you must get him if he is still available. Most think he is the starter in Cleveland regardless of injuries and I am on that bandwagon. Peyton had 144 yards rushing, 36 yards receiving on 7 attempts and one touchdown. As always with running backs consider the match up but I like Hillis to do good things as the season moves forward.

Javon Ringer - Tennessee Titans

Coach Fisher has mentioned giving more reps to Ringer and if anything happens to Chris Johnson Ringer will be the man. He is kind of a reach but it may pay off down the road. You can win unless you gamble.

TIGHT END

Tony Moeaki - Kansas City Chiefs

The rookie from Iowa has quietly become a top 15 tight end in the NFL. He and Matt Cassel have built a nice rapport together and the Chiefs are undefeated. If you are in a keeper league then he is a must have but he is well worth a spot in any league for now.

He is the video of Moeaki's great catch on Sunday against the Niners.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Deion Branch - Seattle Seahawks

Deion is only on this list right now because of bye weeks. I think there are better options out there but if you are in a 12 person league Branch maybe lend you a helping hand. He caught 5 balls for 60 yards Sunday against the Chargers and if not for losing the ball inches from the goal line he would have had a touchdown as well.

Brandon Lloyd - Denver Broncos

Brandon look great with 169 yards and a touchdown in week 3. Rookie Demaryius Thomas looks to be ok but I still like Lloyd. He has a world of talent but the Broncos still spread the ball around to much to count on him every week. He is perfect bye week fill in with potential for more down the road.

Lance Moore - New Orleans Saints

Moore should have been on my list last week with the injury to Bush. He has show he is more then capable if thrown to. The problem is figuring out who Brees will go to on a weekly basis. Lance is worth a spot if you have room.

Early week 3 Pickups for the NFL 09/20/2010

DEFENSE

Miami Dolphins

Everybody knows the Vikings are off to a slow start and the Bills are not very good. Do we care? No. This may finally be the year the Dolphins have a defense worthy of starting all year long and I would almost bet they are available. Karlos Dansby from Auburn is the real deal. He has ten tackles and a sack to start off the year and he is one of several playmakers on this defense. They are worth a spot on your roster. They have the Jets for their home opener in week 3 on Sunday Night Football.

RUNNING BACKS

John Kuhn - Green Bay Packers

With Ryan Grant out for the year and Brandon Jackson looking as bad as last year where will the Packers go for a running game. The answer is a 250 pound back out of Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA. He led the packers in yards in week 2 even though he only had 36 yards on 9 carries. That is a better average then Jackson who went for 29 yards on more carries (11). Jackson got the TD but I like Kuhn as a back up RB with the potential for more down the road. Plus he will get most of the goal line carries due to his size alone. He is available in 98 percent of Yahoo leagues right now. If you have a weak bench the sleeper potential here is worth the waiver spot.

Jason Snelling - Atlanta Falcons

Turner's groin injury is probably not that serious but he is injury prone and Snelling is a good back when given the chance. He is worth a spot if you are in need of another running back

TIGHT END

Mercedes Lewis - Jacksonville

Week 1 looked like a fluke with 2 touchdowns and only a few yards. However this week Lewis gained 70 yards and had several nice catches. This guy is ready to hit your roster if you need a TE. He's also a good flex play in deeper leagues. The Jags run a short yardage offense which helps his chances to get the ball. He is also great at getting open in the end zone.

IDP

Derrick Johnson LB KC

This guy is an IDP beast for the future. He is good for 5-10 tackles a game with the chance for a big play. Consistency is the key with your IDP players and this guy fits the bill. He is tied for 4th in the NFL in tackles with 18 and has a forced fumble.

LaRon Landry SS WAS

21 Tackles = the most in the NFL. Throw in a sack and you have a great pickup in Landry.

QUARTERBACK

Jay Cutler - Chicago Bears

He will only be available in smaller leagues but if he is there snatch him up. The points will continue to pour in as long as he stays on his feet. The Bears have a good running back in Forte and several good receivers including Hester who has plenty of speed to open up the field. This will be needed to keep Cutler healthy.

Michael Vick QB ATL

He will not start in week 3 but he will start again and he will produce. People will drop him now so grab him up if you can and stash him for that one week you need a QB and he plays the Lions again. He may even become your starter down the road as Kolb lacks the get away speed and experience of Vick.

WIDE RECEIVER

Kevin Walter - Houston Texans

Looked great in week 2 and the team is moving forward nicely so far. If you are short at this position pick him up.

Week 8 Waiver Wire NFL Pickups

David Clowney WR NYJ - Clowney should continue to start for another week or two. If you are in bad shape as most people are at WR through the bye weeks he is not a bad pickup.

Justin Fargas RB OAK - Fargas is on a terrible team however he will still be the go to go guy for at least the next few weeks and he can give you 5-10 points which is going to get you through the bye weeks if you need him.

Caddy Williams RB TB - He has been on and off this year but not a bad waiver spot if you need a RB. He is available in most leagues still and can do what Fargas can points wise. He is on my bench.

Hakeem Nicks WR NYG - If you have not got him yet and he is still there (smaller leagues) grab him up. He finds a way to get to the endzone and is a starter now on my team over Kevin Walter for the 3WR slot..

Alex Smith QB SF - The 49'ers are a good team and Smith looked great this past week. He may be worth stashing for future use.

Anybody on New England - The Patriots have a great schedule in the fantasy football playoffs so if you can pick up the defense or one of the WR's it will help you down the road. The browns and rams will provide plenty of points down the road to help your team advance.

Arizona Cardinals Defense - After an impressive victory against the Giants on the road this team is ready to come into its Super Bowl form. The defense should be picked up in all leagues, especially this week against the miserable Panthers.

HOU @ CIN - I will take the cardiac cats by 10 over the texans, 24-14. Benson runs for 2 TD's.

DET @ GB - Green Bay by 3 TD's, 24-3 Ryan Grant goes for over 100 and 2 TD's.

STL @ JAC - I like the Jags by 2 TD's playing at home , 28-14. MJD 2-3 TD's

BAL @ MIN - This one is a toss up but I will take the home team, Vikings win 24-21

NYG @ NO - Best game of the week and I will take the Giants by a field goal, 31-28

CLE @ PIT - The Browns are pathetic, steelers win big at home, 35-3

KC @ WAS - I am starting to like KC for some reason, the Chiefs finally get a win and Jamal Charles takes the starting job from LJ, 17-10 Chiefs win.

PHI @ OAK - The Eagles win this scrimmage, 38-9

ARI @ SEA - This will be a close one, I will take the home team by a field goal 24-21

TEN @ NE - Brady will throw for 3 TD's and morris will run for one as the Patriots win 27-17

BUF @ NYJ - The Jets bounce back after my dolphins took them down, 21-10 Jets

CHI @ ATL - The A is back and the bears are beat up, the falcons do it through the air and win 24-14

DEN @ SD - The Broncos are for real because Tom Brady had a bad day. San Diego has to win this game, if they can stop the Denver run game they can win this game. I think they will and hand the Broncos their first loss of the season. LT gets a touchdown and Rivers throws for 2 more. 27-24 Chargers win.

NBA Live 10 or NBA 2k10

I had them both and I kept Live. While 2k10 is a great game and has the best graphics I have seen yet on PS3, Live is much better. 2K10 has virtually no online gaming. The servers are very slow and its just miserable to play on. Live has lighting servers and a ton of people ready to play. Live has also fixed the defense issues from last year. Once the update patch comes out to fix the steals issue it will be a fantastic game. I have laid down every game I have, except hot shots golf of course, to play live. If you do not play online then you could try them both and see which you like. The build a player segment on 2k is a blast but both games are good offline. They both have plenty of glitches but 2k as of right now has way more.

Week 6 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

Hakeem Nicks NYG - The rookie from North Carolina is finally on the fantasy radar.In his last year at UNC Nicks put up 1222 yards at an average of 18 yards per catchand 12 touchdowns. So far for the Giants Nicks has fought off an injury and put up 121 yards and 2 td's in just 3 games. The looks he gets from Eli are going up every week and I expect this to continue. Nicks large size and glue-like hands make him a must have off the waiver if he is still there.

Jamaal Charles KC - The former Texas Longhorn is a bad half or one big play away from the starting position for the Chiefs. Larry Johnson has been aging for the past 2 seasons and Charles is quicker and more agile. With Matt Cassel playing well and Bowe coming around at wide receiver after the injury there is a call being heard in Kansas to play Charles. I expect it to happen over the next 2-3 week at most.

Justin Durant JAC - Durant has been very consistent for IDP needs this season. He has at least 5 tackles in every game this year and had 10 against Indy in week one. He does not get the sacks but if you need a solid bye week fill in pick him up, he will not let you down.

Darren Sharper NO - Owned in only half the leagues Sharper leads the NFL in interceptions so far this year with 5. He also has 10 solo tackles and half a sack. Add in 2 touchdowns and he is a guy to consider for IDP.

Jesse Palmer (Former FU Grad) - ESPN, what the hell are you doing these days. I cannot even enjoy a good Thursday night football game on your network anymore because this ABC's The Bachelor failure will not shut up. He could not cut it as a Giants QB even though he only had to beat out Kerry "I'm 55" Collins. He could not keep the starter job at FU and now he cannot call college football games. Are you telling me Mark May, Lou the Flu and Palmer are the best you can do? Watching these guys is like having a kidney stone. Get them off the air! While your at it stop doing the court is in session segments. Its plain stupid and pointless.

Guys hanging out at video game stores - Have you ever walked into your local gamestop or ebgames only to find the nerd hanging out at the counter talking to the nerd manager about the latest and greatest in video games. Get a life! Get a girlfriend! If you want to talk games do it with your friends in private. Please do not stand in the way of the store talking about your latest WOW figure or your thoughts on the new spiderman game. I will defend the manager here because he is just doing his job.

USF Fans - You just got whipped on national tv by Cincy (the basketball school). You are not a top team, you never will be and nobody outside of tampa cares about you. Now go back to your overgrown community college and drink natty till you pass out. However remember today and how fired up about this game you were because it will be deja vu when the Noles come to town next year.

This week I would pick up Carolina's Defense if they are on the waiver. Tampa Bay is miserable and will give the ball up at least 2 times. They also will not score over 14 points. Another Defense to consider is New England, they are starting to gel and against Collins and the Titans they should be able to put up some points. I also like them in the long term, they finish out against the Bills and the Jaguars. Look for Jon Beason and Julius Peppers to have huge weeks for Carolina.

Top 25 Fantasy Football Players - 2009

This is a revised list that I will continue updating throughout the preseason keeping up on injuries and stand out performances.

01. Adrian Peterson - He is the top young talent in the NFL with a huge upside.

02. MJD - The Jags offensive line was really banged up last year, they will not be great but good. MJD will produce career numbers this year if a receiver can step up and take pressure off Garrard.

03. DeAngelo Willams - A dark horse only because of Stewart in the mix, but DW has a chance to put up big numbers if he can keep the goal line carries.

04. Michael Turner - The Falcon's offense will be diverse enough for Turner to get great numbers behind a good offensive line.

05. LT - If Nick Hardwick goes back to the old form San Diego will run wild with Tomlinson and Darren Sproles.

06. Frank Gore - I think Gore has proved in the past he is a top back, he must not fumble inside the ten and he is a top back.

07. Steven Jackson - Tough call with him, same as Forte.

08. Matt Forte - Could be overated, could be great.

09. Larry Fitzgerald - Best wide out talent in the game.

10. Drew Brees - Top QB is Brady limpers forward.

Sage Rosenfels, QB, Texans - With Matt Schaub out Sage could be a decent fill in if you need help at QB.

Brady Quinn, QB, Browns - He has the weapons, the question becomes whether his offensive line can hold up for him. I would put him as a wait and see.

Martellus Bennett, TE, Cowboys - His production is coming around and he has the talent. If you are looking for a bye week fill in or if Witten can't go he is not a bad option.

Greg Camarillo, WR, Dolphins - Camarillo is the go to guy in Miami. I have had him on my team for a while now as a WR3 and I cannot complain, grab him if he is available.

Ray Rice, RB, Ravens - Rice should start this week if things go well, he is probably not available in your league but if he is get him and start him.

Nate Washington, WR, Steelers - He may be the 3rd wideout for the Steelers but he is a big play threat and loves to get to the endzone, he is a sure WR3 or a great bye week fill in.

-Brad Johnson, DAL, he will fill in for Romo for a minute and he is a former Nole so I will suggest you grab him if you need a QB. He also has the weapons to put up good numbers.

-Warrick Dunn, TB, the former nole still has it and is showing it weekly
-Dominic Rhodes, IND, looking good but for how long

WR
-Marvin Harrison, IND, he looked like is old self again finally
-Vincent Jackson, SD, a solid wr to have in your lineup, his numbers are very consistent
-Bernard Berrian, MIN, the only true downfield threat the Viking's have

TE
-John Carlson, SEA, looking good but will QB issue hurt him down the road
-Alex Smith, TB, if you need a TE he is at least putting some points on the board
-Todd Heap, BAL, a lot of people have dropped him but he could rebound in the 2nd half of the season
-Marcedes Lewis, JAC, now that he has shown he can catch he is a good option if you need him

Kyle Orton, CHI - He is proving to be at least an average QB so if your desperate he is an option.

Jason Campbell, WAS - This Redskins team will get even better as the year goes, he is a steady guy to have in your lineup. He will not win you games but he will keep you in them

Steve Breaston, ARI - I have him as a solid 2 or 3 WR option while Boldin is out but when Fitz is on the team I cannot put him any higher.

Greg Camarillo, MIA - I like him a lot and I like the Dolphins. If Ronnie Brown can stay healthy this team could go places. Camarillo will be good for at least 50 yards a game for the rest of the year so he is a good WR3. However there will be games where he goes for more or gets a touchdown and his value will be even better. He did great at the end of last year so grab him up and put him in on a bye if you need him till he proves more to us.

Devin Hester, CHI - The speed man from The U is improving every week, if he can stay healthy he is not a bad WR3 or a bye week fill in.

John Carlson, SEA - A lot of people have dropped him from their team now that the Seahawks have some WR's back but I think you should hold on to him. Seattle has a favorable schedule the rest of the year and he may end up as a solid red zone threat for Hasslebeck.

Donald Lee, GB - Mr. Lee is quietly putting together a solid year, if you need a TE he is not a bad option at all.

Week 4 Game Predictons

I am right around 70 percent on predictions so far this year and I hope to improve upon that even further. With that said here are my predictions and thoughts for week 4 in the NFL.

Atlanta at Carolina - This game could be close however I think the Panthers defense will be able to contain Turner to a respectable number. With that said I like Carolina to win playing at home.

Cleveland at Cincinnati - The Browns have looked terrible this year and so have the Bengals. I think Carson Palmer gets it going good enough this week to get the win but it could be a pretty close game. I don't think the Browns offensive line can hold anybody out and that will be their downfall again this weekend.

Houston at Jacksonville - The Jags finally looked like the team they were expected to be last week against the Colts. The Texans on the other hand look horrible. They may have some success on the ground but they do not have enough to win this one. I like the Jags going away in this one with a big day on the ground from Jones-Drew and Taylor.

Denver at Kansas City - I like the Broncos easily in this one. I expect Brandon Marshall to have another huge day and I like the trio of running backs to get their fair share of yardage as well. For the chiefs the only real play in fantasy world is Bowe but you could also use Larry Johnson with hopes he will have one of his good days. The Broncos will give up some points but not to many.

San Francisco at New Orleans - This should be a pretty good game. The 49er's defense has been pretty good so far this year but the Saints have to much fire power. Brees and Bush should have big days and win this one by 10-14 points.

Arizona at New York Jets - This is a tough one for me. The Jets play well at home and they have a pretty decent offensive. The cardinals have a great offense and a better then expected defense. Most experts are picking Arizona in this one but I like the Jets to pull it out playing at home behind a solid day from Favre.

Green Bay at Tampa Bay - Green Bay has some injuries on the defensive side of the ball and I think the Bucs are good enough on defense to slow the Packers down just enough to get a win. Tampa plays very tough at home and Griese looked good last week. I like the Bucs behind a solid passing game to take this one down but it should be close.

Minnesota at Tennessee - One of the best match ups of the week. The Titans have a great defense as do the Vikings. I like Minnesota with a strong running game to win this one but it will be very close and should be low scoring. The vikings will harass Collins all day and that should be the difference.

San Diego at Oakland - The Chargers will run the ball all day and throw at will when they want to. I like San Diego big against the men in black.

Buffalo at the worst team in the NFL aka the Rams - Bills win huge in this one and that's all that needs to be said here.

Washington at Dallas - The Redskins should be able to pass on the Cowboys and that will keep this one close for a little while but in the end I like Dallas with the most solid offense in the NFL to pull away and win. Look for Santana Moss to have a big day for the Redskins and for the Cowboys the usual stars should score more then enough to keep their fantasy owners happy. On that note beware that every now and then the Skins put together a great game against a superior opponent. If this happens it could come down to a field goal.

Philadelphia at Chicago - The Bears defense should play well at home in a night game but the question will be how well their offense performs. If McNabb and Westbrook are able to go I think the Eagles have to much firepower for the Bears. I like the Eagles in Chi Town.

Baltimore at Pittsburgh - This will be a great game. The Ravens have been playing good and the Steelers have been playing like the Steelers do, very good. I think this one can go either way, if the game was in Baltimore I would pick the Ravens but since its in Pittsburgh I have to go with the Steelers.

Week 4 Player Rankings and schedule for the weekend

Week 4 fantasy football pickups of the week and hot women

RB
Steve Slaton, HOU - He has been on my list since before the season started but he is starting to look great as no other running back with the Texans is doing anything. I have him ranked as a 3RB and a good flex or bye week play. This is of course based on whether the o-line can hold up.

Correll Buckhalter, PHILLY - Westbrook seems to get injured every year so if you have him or you need a good option in week 4 due to bye weeks I would pick him up. I dont expect Westbrook to be at full speed this week and Buckhalter should have a decent day. I have him as a solid 2RB if Brian is out.

Derrick Ward, GIANTS - This guy seems to stay on the waiver and that amazes me. Maybe its because everybody has running backs on the roster capable of producing this year however this guy is one to grab if you only have 2 or 3 steady backs. He will get you 50-100 yards a week and has the chance to add a touch to those yards.

Rudi Johnson, LIONS - He looked great in week 3 and should be a decent middle to lower 2RB for the remainder of the year.

Brandon Lloyd, BEARS - He is becoming the go to guy for the Bears and is a worthy of a low end 2WR.

Steve Smith, GIANTS - With the Plaxico Burress suspension its possible that Smith picks up the slack in week 5. Its only one game but if it helps you win that week then take a look at him. I also like Domenik Hixon, who looked pretty solid in the preseason, to be another good option. I have them both as 3WR for week 5 but don't expect this to continue once the man is back.

Ike Hilliard, TAMPA BAY - I know Antonio Bryant is there but I like Hilliard better out of the two. He seems to be the endzone favorite and I expect Brian Griese to get better as we move forward. Expect decent number this week against a suspect Broncos defense.

Jerramy Stevens, TAMPA BAY - Stevens has the potential to be a solid tight end. Last season he scored 4 touchdowns with Seattle and that is saying something in regards to the wide receivers the seahawks have had. In his first game of the year coming off a suspention he performed well inlcuding a touch. I like him as a decent option if you are hurting at the tight end positions and I know most of us are. Hopefully you are not dealing with a league that has the WR/TE flex but if you are then he is a decent pick up.

The other tight ends worthy of a spot on a roster have all been mentioned in previous weeks. They are all really a hit or miss and its very difficult to find consistency at this position this season.

Brian Griese, TAMPA BAY - I am going to jump on the Bucs QB and say if you need a guy on your roster at this position he is a solid bye week fill in and possibly even a middle end passer as we see him improve. Tampy is a good team with some decent running backs and this should allow him to get the ball downfield with his accurate and strong arm.

DEF
San Francisco - This is a good defense not to far behind the feared Steelers D in overall points. They even look better then PITT in certain stats. I would grab them up as there are not a lot of decent options for defenses this year. The other option here would be Jacksonville. If somebody dumped the Jags D on the waiver a week ago pick them up. They will be a good option as the season moves along, especially at home.

Kicker
Ryan Longwell, John Carney and Olindo Mare - This guys are leading the league in scoring for kickers. They are the top 3 overall in fantasy points however they are still on the waiver in a large amount of the leagues. If you are standing behind a well known name kicker who is not producing this season, aka Adam Vinatieri, grab one of these guys and enjoy double the points. Dont worry about the name, worry about perfomance.

IDP
Cortland Finnegan, TENN - He is the overall leader in points for IDP players this season and he has a very good defense around him. Grab him and play him if you have an under perfoming player on your team. He is worth the upside over a DL who may only get you 3 tackles on an off week and I think he will have another 4-6 interceptions with 2-3 of them for touchdowns by the time its all said and done.

I will have another edition of pickups of the week on Friday, this will reflect anything that has happened over the course of the week in practices around the NFL.

KC at ATL = I like Atlanta here, look for Turner to have another big game at home. I also like Bowe for the Chiefs to put up decent numbers.

OAK at BUF = The Bills win this one going away. This should be the Lynch show.

TB at CHI = I like Tampa and a more steady offense to out perform a very good Bears defense.

JACK at INDY = This game will probably be fairly close but Reggie Wayne propels the Colts who have to much firepower for the Jags. I do however think the Jags will be able to put up some good rushing numbers and poss some touchdowns.

PITT at PHILLY = The Eagles are at home but I like the Steelers defense better and I think Pittsburgh will run the ball better. I like the Steelers in a great and very close game.

DAL at GB = This should be the game of the week. I expect a shootout and I like GB to get it done at home fueled by a big Romo turnover late in the game. Rodgers goes off with 3 touchdowns passes against a suspect Cowboy's Secondary. Look out for Felix Jones returning kicks as well, history has proven run backs come in groups.

NYJ at SD = This will be a closer game then people think because Favre will be able to throw the ball, however the Chargers are at home and no matter who is running the ball they will have success. I like San Diego by about 10.

Fantasy Football Week 3 Pickups (Monday Edition)

My early thoughts on pickups for week 3 in the NFL

Quarterbacks

Trent Edwards, Buffalo
- The Bills are proving that they are worth a look and Edwards is leading the charge. I look for him to only get better as the year goes on. Pick him up for a bye week fill in with the potential for more down the road.

Joe Flacco, Baltimore
- Looking good for a bye week fill in or a back up.

Wide Receivers

Chansi Stuckey, New York Jets
- He is becoming Favre's second favorite target and a genuine red zone threat. He is a decent 3WR if you need one

James Jones, Green Bay
- Back from an injury Jones got a touch in week 2. He is more of a hit or miss guy but worth a spot on the roster.

Domenik Hixon
- I know he has a ton of people in front of him but he has talent that cannot be denied. Plus you get his kickoff return yardage.

Running Backs

Derrick Ward, New York Giants
- I like this guy a lot. If Brandon Jacobs goes down its hello Mr. Ward. He is worth a roster spot for a bye week fill in and if you have Jacobs he is a must have pick up.

LaMont Jordan, New England
- The Patriots are very unpredictable when it comes to their running backs but Jordan looked good and may become a guy that can get you 75 yards a game but most likely not many TD's. He is a good bye week fill in for now but lets keep an eye on him.

Fred Jackson, Buffalo
- At this point I would pick him up and then see how he does over the next couple of weeks. Not a bad guy to add to a roster if you have some room to play with.

Felix Jones, Dallas
- He has been here before, pick him up now before somebody else does. I took him in the draft and he looks better every week. A touchdown in week 1 and now a 98 yard kickoff return in week 2. He is one injury away from being a number 1 back in the NFL.

Michael Bush, Oakland
- Justin Fargas went out with an injury and Bush looked great. Granted the Raiders are not very good but it seems whoever is starting at running back for them puts up some decent numbers. Its not a play I would make against a solid run defense but this kid from Louisville has potential.

- Darren Sproles, San Diego
LT will probably be ok in a week or two but Sproles is a fantastic pick up until then.

- Brandon Jackson, Green Bay
Ryan Grant seems to have a new injury every week. If that continues look for Jackson to put up good numbers every week. I have him as a medium 2RB if he is the starter.

Tight Ends

Martellus Bennett
- This guy has a lot of potential. Yes he is behind Jason Witten but I still like him a lot down the road if he play continues to improve

John Carlson, Seattle
- Carlson was on this list last week but I put him here again because the Seahawks cannot keep any receivers healthy. He should be good for at least 50 yards a week if not more and maybe a touch.

David Martin, Miami
- If your desperate Martin is a good guy to get you 3-4 points a game. I would not expect much more but there is not a lot to choose from with Tight Ends.

John Gilmore, Tampa Bay
- He had a good week two with 41 yards and a touch. He is widely available and may be worth a spot on the bench until we see if he can continue to produce catching the ball.

NFL Week 2 Game Thoughts and Projections

My thoughts on this weeks games.

- Matt Cassel throws 2 touchdowns, 1 interception and goes for over 200 yards passing in New England's win at the New York Jets.

- The Indianapolis Colts rebound after a good week of practice and explode in the passing game against a weak Vikings secondary. 2-3 TD's through the air for Manning.

- Kansas City wins . The Chiefs play good at home in front of a very loud crowd. Oakland's secondary has to show up this week to prove me wrong. Bowe gets a touch and I also love Tony Gonzalez for a lot of yards and a possible TD.

- Randy Moss scores a touchdown and posts over 75 yards receiving.

- The Giants dominate St. Louis. Play the G-Men defense this week for sure. Plaxico will continue to impress thanks to an improved Eli Manning.

- The Jags beat buffalo at home. I expect Jacksonville to confuse Buffalo on offense and take charge with 1-2 interceptions. The Jags will be to much at home for the up and coming Bills.

- Washington takes care of the Saints in their home opener. New Orleans has several defensive starters out including 2 of the defensive line. Clinton Portis is pissed from last week and should be dominant in week 2.

- Green Bay over Detroit

- San Francisco over Seattle. Frank Gore will get a lot of carries and the 49er's shock the Seahawks at home. Buffalo proved last week that Seattle's defense has hole's.

- Denver wins a close one against San Diego. I like the Broncos to win at home behind a great offense and a underrated defense. With LT fighting a toe issue and the Chargers offensive line not intact look for a slight upset in this one.

- I love Tennessee at Cincinnati. The Titan's beat a good Jacksonville team last week in Knoxville and I full expect them to continue with the winning ways in week 2. The Bengals are hurting everywhere and will have to play great to win in this one.

- Tampa Bay handles Atlanta at home behind a solid performance from Brian Griese. Expect Turner's numbers to be down quite a bit this week against a good Buc defense at home.

- The Steelers at the Brown's is a tougher one for me. If the Steelers can run the ball they will win the game outright. However if the Brown's can slow down Willie Parker they will get the ball more and this could lead to an explosion of points. This is all of course based on whether or not Cleveland's offensive line can hold off a very solid Steelers pass rush. Let's remember here that the Brown's pull off a big win at home every now and then against a great team.

- I have Dallas over Philadelphia in which should be the game of the week on Monday night. I like Marion Barber and Tony Romo to do well but look for Felix Jones to get a decent amount of carries as well. I feel Donovan Mcnabb will have some success against the cowboy's secondary if he gets the time to pass. Westbrook will have a nice game. I like him for a touchdown and over 100 yards overall.

You have to love football season!

Now back to business,

- Dallas Clark did not practice on Wednesday and may not play this week. If he can't go look for the colts to use a 3WR set with more emphasis on Anthony Gonzalez then usual.

- Ronnie Brown has worked himself back to the starting spot for the Miami Dolphins. If things continue as they should behind an improved offensive line, Brown will be a quality running back for fantasy team's again soon. I like him this week against Arizona to get his first TD of the year with a combined 50-100 yards rushing and catching the ball.

- Rookie Steve Slaton looks to be the starter in week 2 for the Houston Texans. I would not expect much from him right away but he is surely worth a roster spot.

- If you are desperate for a tight end you may want to look at John Carlson from the Seahawks. He is mainly a great blocker but with all the injuries at WR he may see some more action over the next couple of weeks.

- Randy Moss was very limited for the Patriots in today's practice but he should be fine for week 2. Keep an eye out to make sure though.

- Alex Smith is done for the 49er's. If he is on your team get rid of him.

- Brian Griese will start in place of Jeff Garcia in week 2. I do not think he will do enough to keep the starting spot but you never know in the NFL. Just another thing to keep an eye on if you happen to have Garcia as a backup which I do in one league.

- Darren Mcfadden should see some playing time this week but don't expect much out of him. Oakland is a bad team right now and Justin Fargas will see the majority of the action.

- Marques Colston will miss at least a month for the Saints with a busted thumb.

- Derrick Ward for the Giants may be worth a roster spot. He put up some decent numbers in week one and if Brandon Jacobs goes down he is the man.

- Last but not least, pick up Felix Jones if he is still around in your league. He is playing like a beast behind a now bruised Marion Barber. Even if Barber continues to play Jones is going to get his time and some touches.

He will be back soon and the Seahawks can't wait. They need him more then ever now that the entire WR corps is on the injury list for most of the year.

Eddie Royal, DEN
He looked decent but he has one of the most targeted receiver's in the league in Brandon Marshall back in week 2. Hes a good looking WR3 or a good bye week fill in. Either way he is worth a roster spot.

Michael Jenkins, ATL
It seems Turner is going to open up Matt Ryan some time to throw so I like Jenkins to be the solid number 2 WR in Atlanta and he should put up some decent numbers.

Devard Darling, KC
The former Seminole looks to be the man this year behind Bowe. The Chiefs are not very good but he should still get 50 or more yards a week with a touchdown mixed in maybe 4 times this year. He is a lower 3WR or better yet a good bye week fill in.

Matt Jones, JAX
He has been around the block in Jacksonville but he knows the system and looked great in week 1. I also like him as a redzone target with his size.

Once Steve Smith comes back his number will go down but he's worth a waiver if you need a tight end.

Fasano and David Martin are the guys in Miami. The dolphins don't have a real go to WR since Ginn is not emerging so I like these guys seeing the ball as the season moves forward.

Morris is not new to the endzone, he got there plenty last year. Look for him to continue doing well even sharing carries. The Patriots will have to run a little more now with Brady gone. Don't be suprised if Morris ends the season with better stats the Maroney.

Justin Fargas, OAK
Yes Oakland looked terrible but he looked great. If he gets some endzone carries he looks even better.

Pierre Thomas, NO
He is going to get more and more carries as the season goes along. They seem to prefer Bush in the passing game. He is a middle-lower end 2RB right now with a lot of upside.

I see him getting only better as the year goes along. Grab him for a bye week fill in or a backup QB.

This may be his first start since high school but he has a lot better of a team around him in New England. Given that and whatever Brady has taught him he should do just fine. I like him for over 200 yards 1 interception and 2 touchdowns this week against the Jets.

Recipe of the week

So I spend an hour writing the Fantasy Tid Bits only for them to get erased. I will now share my recipe of the week and to come later, the fantasy tid bits. If you have not tried Tilapia then get on it. It's good for you and its damn good food. I have added my recipe for my favorite yellow rice. Next week I will give my personal recipe for one of my famous lasagna's.

Jeff Garcia, the Saints secondary and David Garrad

Jeff Garcia stats 10/16 for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns. Average pass going for 15.2 yards. Not to mention Galloway loves the Saints DB's

The second meeting had backup Luke McCown starting at quarterback for the Buccaneers in place of the injured Jeff Garcia. McCown would pass for 313 yards, 2 TD's, and connected on his first 15 consecutive passes of the game as the Bucs won 27-23.

That's all I need to know considering the Saints have done nothing to improve the secondary with the exception of adding two rookies who will take time before they learn the system and can make any impact. They put all the money up front with the defense with Jonathan Vilma and I expect the Tampa offensive line can hold them off.

Now lets look at what the preseason has showed us.

The trend continues,

The Saints defense in the first two preseason games allowed the opposition's starting quarterbacks, Matt Leinart of Arizona and Matt Schaub of Houston, to complete 21 of 24 passes for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The fact is there is only a handful of QB's, most of them on running based teams, that did not throw for 2 TD's and over 250 yards last year against the Saints. Yes he is not a stud QB but he is solid enough to get you good stats without interceptions. Jeff Garcia also threw for 13 TD's and only 4 INT's in 2007. That is the lowest amount of interceptions for any QB in the NFL last year that played a over 13 games and is only second overall to David Garrad of Jacksonville who played 12 games with 3 INT's.

While we are on David Garrad lets go ahead and place him as a solid QB1 or QB2 this year. He has a decent cast of wide outs with Troy Williamson, the trade from the Vikings, Jerry Porter from Oakland and Dennis Northcutt. Throw Matt Jones, a solid end zone threat in the mix and I like Garrad's chances to be a top 12, maybe top 10 quarterback by the end of the season. He does not throw picks and he gets enough rushing yardage and TD passes to keep him in the mix. If Garrad or Garcia are available off the wire in your league I would pick them up for further insurance, a bye week fill in, a possible starter or good trade bait down the road. They are much more valuable to your roster then a 4Th or 5Th RB or WR.

I will have my fantasy tid bits up tomorrow night and I will have my player rankings for all positions compiled from all the sites with my own thoughts up on Friday. Saturday will be a mixed bag of articles. On Sunday I will be providing an active/inactive article before the early games and then again for the afternoon games. Injury Report

Kicker Lawrence Tynes of the New York Giants has not participated in practice so far this week and will not play. Expect newly added John Carney to start. If you have Tynes I would suggest searching the waiver.

Linebacker Jason Taylor of the Washington Redskins is questionable for the Thursday opener. His status will not be known until game time.

Rudi Johnson signs with the Lions

The Detroit Lions have released Tatum Bell and have signed Rudi Johnson. He will most likely be a back up for the first week or two but I expect him to have the starting job over Kevin Smith within the first 3 weeks. Kevin Smith has been a ghost lately and I think a motivated Johnson can overtake him. He is upset about the situation and that should be a good motivator for him. I would place him as a mid to low end 3RB. He may be worth picking up off the wire if you are in need of a RB or would like a possible starter on an early bye week. However, with one of the worst offensive lines in the league I still don't expect him to do enough to make him a weekly starter.
